Two fair dice are rolled. The event "A = getting the same number on both dice" has probability = 1/6. (a) Describe in words what the event AC is. Select the correct answer: A. getting a 6 on both dice B. getting a 6 on one die C. getting a 1 on both dice D. getting different numbers on the two dice E. getting the same number on both dice (b) What is the probability of AC? (Enter your answer as a fraction.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it tell you what event C is or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, that is everything that is given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 in 6 x 1 in 6 = a 1 in 36 chance of rolling two sixes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is that straight forward.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So "C" would stand for constant? with "C" being a constant times by the probability "A" would mean "AC" as "getting the same number on both dice"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. It's weird notation. It's \(A^{C}\), right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because that means "the probability of that thing not happening" but I've almost never seen it written like that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its A^c
