Can you please explain to me why Chemistry is considered essential to Computer Engineering Major ?
Is it? I think if you are concerned about the Hardware then you may have to deal with chemistry. building chips and all. But I am not sure you need much knowledge of Chemistry
You have to have knowleadge of chemistry...... for what ?
I don't think you need knowledge of Chemistry
And then why Universities require you to take chemistry if you select this major
as well as physics
idk why they do it maybe...they want you to have a strong hold of sciences. I had to do Biology as well during my time :( ask @Preetha she might be able to tell from college's perspective
Chemistry is needed for components engineering...semiconductors etc... in general molecular view of the subject and how the materials react with eachother.
I have seen professors explain basically basically a combination of what thisSucks and MicroBot have said. Part of why they are broadening sciences in CS majors is to get them to understand the scientific method. The other part is that computers are now being used to direct, control, monitor, interface with all sorts of other things. This means a base understanding of other fields is important. Finally, some fields like Physics and Chemistry are important in other aspects, such as component design and making realistic calculations.
