4x + 6y = 12 for x (please show how you got your answer) I got x = 12-6y/4 Do you need to simplify? how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when it is simplified it becomes x= 3-3y/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you tell me how you did that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the original value was x=12/4 -6y/4.. u can just divide 12 by 4 which gives u 3 , and for 6y/4.. u can simplify it by finding the the same number that can be divided to 6 and 4 and gives a whole number.. in this case it is 2.. when u divided 6 by 2 u get 3; and when u divide 4 by 2 u get 2.. which would brings down the fraction from 6y/4 to 3y/2
