-8(t-3)-(t+3)=3 The solution is t=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you willing to put in the time so that I can work through this with you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jcarl44 I would like to work through this with you step by step can you factor the -8 into (t-3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure how to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well let me start you off -8(t-3) (-8*t)-(-8*3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you forgot about the t term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but 24 is correct for the -(-8*3) part so lets sub that into what I gave you (-8*t)+24 -8t+24 24-8t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the key here is that if I have two terms, one with a variable and one without I should get two terms when factoring in -8 I should get two terms again, one with the variable and one without

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you understand what I am saying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I think so...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well to test your understanding we can do something else that helps you solve this problem factor -1 into (t+3) for me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please
