Can someone please help me with this question? You are going to invent a new device that people can use instead of a microwave oven to warm up leftovers. Which type of electromagnetic wave would be most useful to investigate? gamma rays X–ray radio waves infrared waves Thanks, ~Micah K.
@Callisto
I know that it isn't B, and I believe that gamma rays are too dangerous. Therefore, it must be C or D. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Radio waves are used in microwaves, and if I want to create a unique device, different from a microwave, that probably means that C isn't an option either. So it must be D. Am I right?
Hmm.. You can hardly warm food using radio wave (consider its frequency, the energy is pretty low)... A and B should be ruled out, and you've got the reason.
But microwaves use radio waves.
That is how the original device was invented.
"Microwaves are high frequency radio waves" Ok :|
In this case, using radio waves would be considered as an "old idea".
Okay. So the answer is D?
Yes.
Okay, thanks! :D
PS: We do have infrared ovens nowadays..
You're welcome.
Cool, I didn't know that.
Neither did I :)
Haha.
