How do I graph x > y ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First graph x = y. Can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whenever I graph an inequality, first i turn the inequality into an "=" sign and graph that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph what? I need to find two points.. but i'm confused about how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two sets of points, i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph x = y. Or y = x....same thing. Traditionally we usually say y = something with the y on the left but it doesn't matter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can (1, 1) work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here it is. y = x is a pretty simple graph. |dw:1382134362572:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But we don't want y = x, do we? We want y < x. Where on the graph is y < x? Everywhere on the line y equals x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Everywhere below that line...y is less than x. |dw:1382134546604:dw|
