What was the Allied strategy for World War II?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What was the German army's last offensive? the Battle of Britain the Battle of the Bulge the Battle of Stalingrad the Battle of the Atlantic

OpenStudy (ciel21):

1.The US and the Allies decided to put the war in Europe ahead of the Pacific. Then the US began a island hopping campaign to retake the Pacific and used the atomic bomb to force the Japanese to surrender. 2.It was NOT the Battle of the Bulge, which was a battle resulting from the Ardennes Offensive, rather than an offensive in itself. The Lake Balaton offensive (Operation Fruhlingserwachen) ,in Hungary, was launched on 6 March 1945, long after the Ardennes Offensive had finished. Its aim was to protect oilfields in the Lake Balaton area. The attack was spearheaded by 6th Panzer Army, transferred from the Western Front for the purpose. Although halting the Russian advance temporarily, the offensive fizzled out by 16 March due to lack of fuel.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

1) What was the Allied strategy for World War II? To attack Germany from all sides, (and they would have to split their army....) Makes sense right? 2) What was the German army's last offensive? to disrupt the Allies' supply line

OpenStudy (xaze):

Germany's last offensive was the "Battle of the Bulge." <--- Confirmed, right answer.
