Directional Derivative & Gradient Vector http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/50a92e1fe4b082f0b8534b84 How was the formula T = k/r obtained?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that that the temperature is inversely proportional but I don't understand how/why the k is there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"k" would be the proportionality constant. the factor by which they are proportional. when you say T is inversely proportional to r, you have T = k*(1/r) because the statement holds true for any value of k. does this clear it up a bit?

Yes thank you!
