ax+z=aw-y, solve for a

OpenStudy (ranga):

Subtract z from both sides Subtract aw from both sides Tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My answer is a=-y-z/x-w just wondering if it is right?

OpenStudy (ranga):

You have it almost right except you have to put parenthesis around the numerator and the denominator. a = (-y - z) / (x - w)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you

OpenStudy (ranga):

\[\Large a = \frac{ -y - z }{ x - w }\]

OpenStudy (ranga):

you are welcome. Without parenthesis your a=-y-z/x-w might be seens as: \[\Large a = -y -\frac{ z }{ w } - w\]
