Which set of ordered pairs in the form of (x,y) does not represent a function of x? {(-1,2),(3,-2),(0,1),(5,2)} {(-1,2),(3,2),(-2,2),(0,2)} {(-1,2),(3,-2),(0,1),(3,5)} {(-1,2),(2,3),(3,-2),(-2,0)}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for each x value we should have only one value for y so look for a pair that contains x value two time and two different y values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 and 3 idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because its a y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's look at number one {(-1,2),(3,-2),(0,1),(5,2)} x values are: -1,3,0,5 non repeated so it is a function but number three {(-1,2),(3,-2),(0,1),(3,5)} x values are: -1,3,0,3 3 is repeated now look at the y values for 3 they are -2,5 and that is impossible for one value of x there must one value of y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ow i c, so whats next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is done the right answer is the third set

thanks
