What is the probability of rolling, on a normal dice a 5

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

a normal dice has the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the probability of of an event , is equal to the number of favourable possibilities divided by the total number of possibilities

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the question is asking how favourable is the chances of rolling a 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

how many of the possible rolls is a 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, What's the probability of rolling a dice and getting a 5, Like number/6

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

how many of the possible numbers are 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

1,2,3,4,5,6 how many of these are 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What;s the chance of getting a 5 between one of those numbers

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can you figure it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

( 2/6 ) Am i right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/6 would be the answer because, there are 6 numbers on a dice and only one of them is 5 so 1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And if it's a 3 ? , 2/6 ' since there could be two numbers in the three timetable ?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

have you tried rolling a dice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, since there is only one three you would put 1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I havent " @UnkleRhaukus " , i Don't have one unfortunately

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ryanvarghese12790 , so all the answers would be 1/6 ' since there is only one of them ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use this website http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks1/maths/dice/ It lets you use a dice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about if i'm looking for the possibility of getting a odd number ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then it would be 3/6 This is because, there are 3 odds and 3 evens on a dice the odd numbers are 1,3,5 the even are 2,4,6 so the answer would be 3/6 so simplified would give you the answer of 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, thanks man, appreciate your support!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*_*

OpenStudy (anonymous):
