Will removing an electron change the charge of the atom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. Lets take a Hydrogen atom. It is neutral 1 proton, one electron. The charge is 0 since the + and - equal out. If you take away an electron, it becomes H+, which is an ion. Since there is one proton and no electron to balance it out, it has a charge of one plus.
