ok once you get factors rewrite it
2x^2 +4x -5x -10
split into 2 groups
(2x^2 +4x)+(-5x-10)
factor each group
2x(x +2)-5(x+2)
pull out common factor of "x+2"
(x+2)(2x-5)
done
