This question is stupid, but I still can't do it! Can you explain this to me? A class has less than 30 students Exactly 3/4 of them own footballs Exactly 7/8 of them own football boots. How many students are there in the class? How many students own both football boots and footballs?
I did some work but I am stock on it... I'll show what I did......
Let x represent number of students in class. x<30 Students that own footballs x=<22 Students that own football boots x=<26 This is not the answer, but Am I correct?
YEah forgot, the answer choices. If that matters.... 8 16 24 29
this is a strange question. But if you have exactly 7/8 own boots, that means the number in the class must be evenly divisible by 8, otherwise you will get a fraction of a student, and that is not allowed. for example, if the number were 25, 7/8 of 25 is 21 and 7/8 if we list the numbers between 0 and 30 that can be divided by 8 we get 8, 16, 24 notice that all 3 of those numbers are also evenly divisible by 4. so any of the three could be the class size.
Any?
So it is A B and C?
I really though that it is not enough information for the second question.
And thank You I get it totally!
I don't understand the question, unless it is has multiple answers if the class was 24, then we know we have 21 own boots and 3 without boots 18 own footballs. Between 15 and 18 could own both boots and footballs (the answer is a range)
I don't either.
