I need a graph that represents the function y= -2x^2 - 5. Been stuck on this for quite a while..

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well what do you need to know... vertex, concavity, x intercepts...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its graphing quadratic functions

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

I know what it is.... I asked, what you would like to know... there are numerous ways to graph it.. 1. table of values, 2. using calculus 3. using some facts about know graphs... then adjusting...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just graphing it would be great.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok.... well using a table of values, substitute each x value into the equation to get the corresponding y value. Plot the points on the number plane and you'll see your curve try x: -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 ------------------------------- y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.. Can you help me with that pretty please ill be your best friend

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so what's -2*(-4)^2 - 5 = ? repreat the process for each value of x
