OpenStudy (nincompoop):

given 12 pucks with 11 of the same weight and 1 unknown. using balance and gravity, identify the puck with the different weight and its weight in three attempts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it is possible.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Not enough info.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need at least 4 attempts, I believe.

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

Subtracting from heaven and it rolls down two. Add it with denominator, and you get gravity of the sky, Plus square root of 12 pucks will be the Nin of 64. Minus it out Bahrom and the others. You get dumbroom. Thats how everything equals. When openstudy comes to pickles. That means that the 1 unknown makes brilliance with the known. Go count the moons, and stars thats how you get the weight. With Shamil of homeworkssucks brings you down with idiots. That MEANS THE ANSWER WILL BE 64 with a numerator of Tima.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Reported for irrelevant response.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

that's what I initially thought @wio but I think it may be possible. I am able to identify which puck in 3 attempts, but not its weight.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think you can even identify which puck in 3 attempts, actually.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you certainly can.

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

Excuse me nin, where is your attempted-work at? OS isn't a "do my work for me" place

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

It's not irrelevant! google search it. You'll find the same answer. (=

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

it is a thought experiment, @mary.rojas this is like testing how well one understands center of gravity and torque

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

HOPE I HELPED!

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

;) am just messing with you good luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure how to prove you wrong, except to simulate the measuring devise and have you tell me how you want to measure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't need to necessarily know your whole strategy if I simulate it, but it will obviously give parts of it away.
