which of the following statements is true about the structure of the cell membrane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are the statements?...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok... the membrane is mostly made up of phospholipids and a few other things like cholesterol and other types of lipids. Phospholipids have a hydrophilic (water-loving) head group (usually drawn as a circle) and two hydrophobic (water-fearing) tails. The phospholipids orient themselves so that they form two layers (the whole thing is called a phospholipid bilayer) with the water-loving heads out (in contact with the water) and the water-hating tails inside. The plasma membrane also has proteins in it. Some of these proteins form channels through the membrane. Others are attached so that they can, for example, amplify hormone signals inside the cell. And then there are others that play a role in cell-cell contact or have other functions outside the cell. Source: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5011a8f8e4b08ffc0ef3e73d Hope this helps!!!
