The example has been done for us. Let's look at it. Here's our starting sentence: "Sacar un libro de la biblioteca." (To take out a book from the library) And here's the way that we were supposed to rewrite that sentence: "Lo saqué." (I took it out.) ---------- See, all we need to do is use the past tense "Yo" form of the verb, and pair it with the correct Spanish word for "it," or "them." ----------- There are two different Spanish words that mean "it." Lo -- this one is used for MASCULINE, SINGULAR objects. La -- this one is used for FEMININE, SINGULAR objects. There are also two different Spanish words that mean "them." Los -- this one is used for MASCULINE, PLURAL objects. Las -- this one is used for FEMININE, PLURAL objects. ------------- I'm going to assume that you already know how to conjugate Spanish verbs into the past tense. If you want to go over that, let me know. ------------- Okay, so let's look at the example sentence, again. "Sacar un libro de la biblioteca." The VERB, in this sentence, is "sacar." The direct OBJECT, in this sentence, is "libro." It's the direct object, because it is the thing that is being affected by the verb. "Sacar" means "to take out." What is being "taken out"? The book. "Libro." That's why "libro" is the direct OBJECT. ----------- Okay so....step by step, here we go. 1. Take a look at the OBJECT. In this case, it's "libro." "Libro" is SINGULAR, and MASCULINE. So we write down "Lo." 2. Take a look at the verb. In this case, it's "sacar." Conjugate it into the past-tense, Yo form. That is "saqué." Now we're done! That's how the answer in the example was "Lo saqué." (Again, "lo saqué" means "I took it out.") -------------------- Now let's look at the sentence that you have to rewrite: "Echar una carta." ECHAR is the VERB. CARTA is the direct OBJECT. Can you do this one on your own, using what I've told you?
