I see people that have some trouble with geometry, here are some examples for slopes lines and etc....
Lets say you need to find the equation of the line that is perpendicular to y=2x+2 and passes through (6,3). what is the equation of the line perpendicular to it? Lets do the steps together. Focus closely.
STEP 1: Graph the y=2x+2. Plug in -1, 1 for x you get (-1,0) (1,4) graph these points and connect them with the line.|dw:1382732151038:dw|
STEP 2: find the slope of the line perpendicular to it. (You know that the standard form is y=mx+b where m is the slope. Compare the y=2x+2 you can see that the slope of that equation is 2.) To find the slope of the line perpendicular you would take a multiplicative inverse of it. and multiply it then times -1. (so if the slope of a line is a, the slope of a perpendicular line to it is -1/a) So in this case it is going to be -1/2.
STEP 3: find the y intercept of the line that is perpendicular to it. We know that a perpendicular line is passing through (6,3) so lets graph the perpendicular line.
