Yesterday, Asher ran 2 miles in nineteen minutes. Today, he ran 3 miles in thirty minutes. The function that describes the relationship between the number of miles he ran and the time he ran is a linear function. How long will he run tomorrow if he runs 5 miles? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let (2,19) represent his first "run", where the x-coordinate reprresents the number of miles he ran, and the y-coordinate represents the number of minutes he ran. Let (3,30) represent today's run. So write an equation of the straight line using the two points (2,19) and (3,30). Once you have your equation, you can can figure out the time he ran in 5 miles.
