Write this number in standard form. 4(1,000,000) + 7(100) + 2(1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4000702

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4000702 is in integer form. "Standard form" is another name for "scientific notation"...so we have to write it as something x 10^something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4.000702 x 10^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since when is "standard form" scientific notation? how much money do you have in your pocket? i have \(213.4\times 10^1\) dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/standard-form.html They use that phrase in British and other international curriculums to talk about what we call scientific notation. I saw it a lot when I was in Asia

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who knew? kind of strange to say \(2.15\times 10^2\) is "standard" what does that make \(215\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, nevermind. if you're in the US 4000702, if not use the other.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't read that closely enough. It actually does say standard form in other non-brit countries usually just means integer form
