Sort of confused at where: section 4.12, sections 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.6 are in How to think like a computer scientist. Those seem to skip quite a lot. Am I reading something wrong? I dont' see those sections in the first 2 chapters.
Well, the lectures they are using follow a different progression than that particular book, so they bounce around a lot.
@chuckwm, they are going very much in hand with lectures and our need as I see it.
They aren't too hard, but 4.12 requires stuff from the earlier part of the chapter(4) and the others are much more advanced then the reading. Just found it interesting skipping chapters 3,4 and moving onto those. Some may want to read those if they are truely new to python, or programming in general.
The way I see it, this course was specifically created in order to teach Python using the progression in which the moderators seen fit. It's "A Gentle Introduction," most likely because they are attempting to avoid the point where "it all seems too complicated" and a lot of people opt out due to the complexity of programming. Simply put, it's easing you into the complexities, with a subtle approach instead of just slamming immense amounts of information in front of you all at once. I would just trust in their abilities. I'm sure they know what they're doing :)
Edit - for others that were confused like me, it looks like my pdf version of the text is slightly different than the one used in this class. If 4.12 is exercises in your text, download directly from the link in the courseware and everything will go better for you.
