What are the x-intercept(s) of the graph of the equation y − x2 = −4x − 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it (−1, 0) and (−5, 0) @dan815

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

The x intercepts would be the roots of that equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm assuming I am wrong then.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

No -you are not wrong - I just haven't figured out the answer yet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay take your time I just want to make sure doing it right.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

x2 - 4x -5 = 0 We can factor that (x -5) (x +1) = 0 You know what to do next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-1 and x=5 are where the function is equal to 0, by definition these are the x-intercepts.(edited sign mistake)

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

proverbsm it seems one of your answers is wrong
