**MEDAL** Please help! What is the expression in factored form? 6x^2 + 4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take the x out. x(6x+4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take a 2x out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 2x(3x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I start the next step? We just started this type of math and it's confusing me greatly. haha.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x(3x+2) i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you want to look at the original problem ok. \[6x^2+4x\] You need to think, what can I take out of each of these numbers. So look at the X's. The lowest X you have is just 1 x so you know you can take out an X \[x(6x+4)\] then look again. You know 2 can go into both those numbers. You knwo 4 doesnt go into 6 and vise versa for 6 into 4 so take a two out. \[2x(3x+2)\] When you take the 2x out you put it on the outside and that is it your question is factored.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really? So 2x(3x +2) is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeap =p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! That wasn't so bad :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope and if you want to make sure you have the right answer simply multiply 2x from what you have on the inside and you will get the original problem you started with.

Alright, thanks! :D
