2 times the quantity of x + 3 + -3 = 2x true or false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true, but do you know why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I forgot how to solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what the problem looks like when you make it into an equation \[2(x+3-3)=2x\] So if you follow the order of operations what do you do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distributive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can do that but you should simplify inside your parenthesis first. Because 3-3=0 so what you are left with is \[2(x+0)\] which is just 2x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anytime you have problems like these this is the order you should follow.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first you do the work inside the Parenthesis. Then you multiply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah thank you
