3 + 1/5x = -1

OpenStudy (shamil98):

\[3 + \frac{ 1 }{ 5 }x = - 1\] Get x by itself. To do so you first subtract the 3 from both sides. \[\frac{ 1 }{ 5 }x = -4\] Then multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 1/5 which is 5. \[\frac{ \cancel 5 }{ 1 } \times \frac{ 1 }{ \cancel 5 } x = -4 \times \frac{ 5 }{ 1 }\]

OpenStudy (shamil98):

\[x = -4 \times 5\]

ohhhhh. ok. thanks (" @shamil98

OpenStudy (shamil98):

\[x = -20\]
