An invitation to join an open discussion about "Robinson Crusoe."

Verisimilitude is "the appearance of being true or real." I love the way Defoe uses verisimilitude right at the outset of the story. He was a reporter earlier in his life, and that's the way he goes about telling this story. It's concise details make it very realistic.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I won't place the entire first paragraph here, but this is how Defoe goes about giving the impression that his story is true. "I WAS born in the year 1632, in the city of York, of a good family, though not of that country, my father being a foreigner of Bremen, who settled first at Hull." I love the details.

Or we can discuss the characters of the cask of Amontillado?

OpenStudy (lena772):

LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You didn't seem to interested in discussing it. Was I wrong about that?

OpenStudy (lena772):

How did I not seem interested?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lack of participation.

OpenStudy (lena772):

Sorry. I was trying to get my work done too...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A lot of that going on. How long do you have?

OpenStudy (lena772):

I can be on all night. The questions I'm asking are for assignments. I have to discuss with you guys and do the assignment at the same time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just a suggestion but I had some friends from England and Belgium, and I was impressed with how both of them went about their homework. They worked very hard at the beginning of the semester to get the semester's work done and then they fine-tuned their work throughout their their classes. WAY better than how US students go about it. See the attachment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What grade are you in?

OpenStudy (lena772):

12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (lena772):

This isn't last minute work. I'm trying to complete my semester at an accelerated pace instead of traditional.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Honors course? What are the questions?

OpenStudy (lena772):

English III Honors. I tagged you in the next question I have. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. You probably know more than I do, which is fine by me. I want to learn some stuff.
