I really need a quick answer! We have two complex compounds. One has a stronger ligand than other. Which absorbs green and which one absorbs blue? blue wave length is smaller than green.

I think the lighter the colour, the higher the absorbance is, so darker colours, such as blue or purple, are about 400 nm, while those brighter, like orange, yellow, RED, which has about 500-700, respectively.

It really depends on the ligands also, for instance, high and low spin ligands, which effects the crystal field splitting. higher energy, means that it has the ability to absorb photons of higher energy.

HOw does a stronger lingand change the colour? stronger ligand means stronger field splitting; so does that mean shorter wave length since they are reciprocal?
