Help will be appreciated ;) In the triangle shown below, find m∠B. Round to the nearer degree.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m<B = tan^-1(8/15)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tan inverse=tan^-1

OpenStudy (ranga):

You can take sine, cosine or tan of angle B and then compute angle B. tan(B) = opposite / adjacent = 8/15 tan(B) = 8/15 B = inverse tan of 8/15 In your calculator set the angle to degree (instead of radian) Press tan^-1(8/15) and you will get the angle B in degrees. Round it to nearest degree.

SOH CAH TOA sin(theta) = opposite length / hypotenuse cos(theta) = adjacent length / hypotenuse tan(theta) = opposite / adjacent

I got a 0.48 as my answer...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I got too. That's why I linked the picture that I did. >.>

OpenStudy (ranga):

tan(B) = 8/15 B = tan^1(8/15) using the inverse tan function of the calculator I get B = 28 degrees The .48 you got is in radians. They want the answer in degrees. So you need to set your calculator to degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

27.5! thank you very much (: @ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

The question asks you to round it to the nearest degree. So 28 degrees.
