OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Why it is difficult to accurately represent ammonia two-dimensionally? I've read that it has something to do with being a pyramid when its 3-D. Can someone help me and explain why?

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

@chmvijay can you help me?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

ammonia's structure is difficult to answer for some because it can carry different orientations

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

@abb0t what do you mean by orientations?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I forgot where I was going with this. lol. But let me get back to you.

OpenStudy (zpupster):

you are right NH3 is a 3d pyramidal shape showing something 3d on a 2d medium i would guess creates difficulty for the person asking the question, but i have seen it done in chem books a lot.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You can model it using a xyz-coordinate system.
