In the laboratory, how could you determine if a solid has a metallic bond?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

@chmvijay

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

A metallic bond is formed in metals and combinin metal ions usuaaly the ionic compounds dissolve in polar solvents and that of covalent compounds are solubale in non-polar solvents. but the metallic bonded are not soluble either of solvents , this is one way of finding the presence of metallic bonding :) another way is to finding the metallic properties and magnetic properties of material :) is there anything specific question regarding this

OpenStudy (aaronq):

measuring conductivity of the solid is an easy, although it doesn't assure that the bonds are metallic for all substances (e.g. graphene).

put a metal to it.
