what does the tree of life represent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The tree of life...as in the one from the Bible?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

noooo. like animal kingdoms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! We just went over this in my advanced Biology class. Let me look and see what I put. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha ok thank you!(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem :) Give me a second.

Okay, the best way to explain it is: The tree of life is a metaphor used to describe the relationships between organisms, both living and extinct. Its use dates back to at least the early 1800s. It was employed by Charles Darwin to express the concept of the branching divergence of varieties and then species in a process of common descent from ancestors. Make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

smaller explanation if possible? haha.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if its possible if its not dont worry about it (:

Okay, haha The tree of life was created by Charles Darwin. It is a metaphor used to describe the relationships between organisms, both living and extinct. (It is used to express the concept of the branching divergence of varieties and then species in a process of common descent from ancestors.) I pretty much told you the same thing as above but summed it up into a smaller paragraph. Will that work or do you need a smaller explanation? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha ok thank you (:
