Proofread my short essay again and tell me how many points you would give me out of 100 ( note my teacher said 2 to 3 paragraphs in the class announcements).

Imagine it is 1880. The Civil War has been over for 15 years. Economic conditions in the town you live in have deteriorated, and you are struggling to make ends meet. You decide to try your luck out west, where there is plenty of land and plenty of opportunity. Before leaving, you must decide what you will do out west—be a miner, a cowboy, or a farmer. Each presents its own opportunities and difficulties. Write an essay in which you: • Tell what you would be—a miner, cowboy, or farmer. • Describe the opportunities you would have. • Describe the difficulties you would face. • Explain why you chose as you did. Use the rubric on the following page to see how your teacher will score your essay. This graded assignment will be due in Lesson 4: Your Choice. Answer: If the Civil War has been over for 15 years and Economic conditions in my town have deteriorated I would decide to try my luck out west, where there is plenty of land and plenty of opportunity. Before I leave I would think about some things I could do out in the west. I could be a miner, cowboy, or a farmer, and if I had to choose I would be a farmer. I would be working for myself and getting paid for what I grow. I would be a farmer mainly because of the Homestead Act and transcontinental railroad. The Homestead Act would allow me to own my own land in the west that would be idea if I wanted to own land outside of a town for customers. The transcontinental railroad would allow me to provide my crops to more customers that are further away. If I become a farmer in the west even with the Homestead Act I would have to buy or find a source of water. I would have to worry about wild animals that I may encounter. In addition to that I would have to be cautions of my neighbors and any other travelers that come through. When it comes to farming I would have to hope the soil is good for planting. I think one of the most difficult things I would face would be buying animals and crops for my farm depending on the cost to travel to my new home. In conclusion, being a farmer would benefit me more because of the Homestead Act and the transcontinental railroad. Being a miner is too risky; it could lead to more problems than positive results. Being a cowboy would only be doing halve of what I would hope for. If I were to be a cowboy the pay could not be that much either. This is why I would be a farmer, because I would be able to own my own land, and there are many potential buyers for what I grow.
