HELP PLEASE !

OpenStudy (ranga):

What is the corresponding side of BC on the parallelogram on the right? What is the corresponding side of CD on the parallelogram on the right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OF BC is AD and of CD is BA

OpenStudy (ranga):

We are comparing the bigger parallelogram to the smaller parallelogram. The smaller one is just a scaled down version of the bigger one. So BC gets scaled down to which side on the smaller parallelogram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BC to FG

OpenStudy (ranga):

Yes. And CD to ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GH

OpenStudy (ranga):

Yes. BC --> FG and CD --> GH So if BC is proportional to CD on the bigger parallelogram, then FG will be proportional to GH on the smaller parallelogram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ...

OpenStudy (ranga):

So GH is your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank You so much @ranga i just needed help in two more questions ! U just helped me with this one can you help me with the last one ?

OpenStudy (ranga):

I will try one more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ranga

OpenStudy (ranga):

They are similar polygons. That means the corresponding sides in the two diagrams will be proportional. AD / EH = BC / FG x / 12 = 8 / 6 solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its 12 ? @ranga

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ranga PLEASE ANSWER

OpenStudy (ranga):

You are just throwing out choices and eliminating them. x / 12 = 8 / 6 is not a difficult equation to solve. Just multiply both sides by 12 and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=8/6*12=8*2=16 answer would be what? 16..!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GOT IT @ranga and @ziqbal103 THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome to you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And what if i had to find the value of Y ? @ziqbal103

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Soory i just want to learn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my bad y=8/6*12=8*2=16 answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you are checking me then i wrote wrong it would be x=18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No No No @ziqbal103 if we had to look for Y how we were going to get it
