Maggie says that if she adds any two negative integers, the result will always be a negative integer, but if she subtracts the same two negative integers, the result will always be a positive integer. Part A: Explain why you agree or disagree with Maggie's statement. Part B: Give one example of adding two negative integers and one example of subtracting the same two negative integers that support your explanation in Part A.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Well you only get a positive integer by subtracting two numbers IF the first number is greater than the second number :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the first is negative how would adding a lesser integer make that positive?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A: Disagree, only if the first integer is less than the second will give you a positive number when adding them together. B: (-5--6) = 1 // (-5+-6) = -11 or (-12--10) = -2 // (-12+-10) = -22
