find the six trigonometric functions of t. a) t= 5pi/3 b) t= -7pi/6

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

use your Unit Circle, if you don't have one, well, get one, many online http://www.sciencedigest.org/UnitCircle.gif

how am i goign to find the trigonometric functions? is sin -sqrt3/2 ???

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yes

Here's your chance to show your stuff. Draw a circle showing the location of the angle t = 5pi/3 (which is equivalent to 300 degrees). This takes you counterclockwise to Quadrant IV. Draw the triangle that has its "adjacent side" on the x-axis and its "opposite side" parallel to (but not on) the y-axis. Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse. Hint #1: this is a 30-60-90 degree triangle. Hint #2: If you've studied "special triangles," of which this 30-60-90 degree triangle is an example, you probably know the lengths of the 3 sides of the triangle. Hint #3: Think "1," "2" and "Sqrt(3)," not necessarily in that order! Now review the definitions of the six trig functions: sin x = "opposite side"/"hypotenuse" cos x = "adjacent side" / "hypotenuse" and so on.
