We can already see the answer in the first step :)
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
if it helps
27 = 3 x 3 x 3
OpenStudy (lena772):
omg plenty of people :O
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
So you know how to do it now? :)

3 x 3 x 3 is the same as... 3^3
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
lol @kittiwitti1 is trying to write a long paragraph
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Do the thing inside the bracket first, ignore the things outside it
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
9^3 is not 3^3
OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):
Last one's correct.\[3^4=81,~3^9=19683~and~9^3=729\] Only the last one has the correct value in the first step.
OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):
@kc_kennylau Actually no I was struggling to make my stupid pocket scientific calculator work while typing out LaTex code .-.
OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):
@kittiwitti1 oh lol your calc is stupid indeed (not you :P)

lol yep @kc_kennylau
It has no exponent/carrot button, can you believe that?
OpenStudy (lena772):
So it's D?
OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):
What do you think (No offense intended by that)?
OpenStudy (lena772):
Isn't 27^1/3 =9 not 3
OpenStudy (lena772):
My two thoughts were A and C, but you guys say it's not A... so C would be my next choice

No, it isn't.
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
A power of 1/3 means a cube root. What is 9 cubed? it's 9 x 9 x 9 which is far larger than 27.
OpenStudy (lena772):
Oh... ok... so why wouldn't it be B
OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):
What's 3 to the 9th power?
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
3^9 is 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3. Again, far bigger than 27.

Ok
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
3^3 is 3 x 3 x 3 =27
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
Use a calculator if you aren't sure... try out some of these yourself.
OpenStudy (lena772):
I understand now, thanks everyone.
