depends

OpenStudy (ashy98):

solve the equation \[\frac{ x+2 }{ 3 } = 5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

easy: multiply 3 to both sides of the equation. 3*((x+2)/3)=5*3. The 3's on the left side cancel (because 1/3 times 3 equals 1). You have x+2=15 now. Now subtract 2 on both sides. x+2-2=15-2. 2-2 is 0 so you have x=13.

I think it is 13. 13 + 2 = 15. 15/3 =5.
