I understand some of this but my instructor doesn't give clear instructions, can someone help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given that log_2(r) = 14.11, log_2(z) = 10.47, and log_2(x) = 14.91, find the following: log_2(root(11)(z^10/(r^5x^8)))

OpenStudy (alekos):

its equal to log_2(sqrt11)z^10 - log_2(r^5)(x^8) which becomes log_2(sqrt11) + log_2(z^10 - log_2(r^5) - log_2(x^8) do you follow so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (alekos):

OK good, then we get...... 0.5log_2(11) + 10log_2(z) - 5log_2(r) - 8log_2(x) happy with that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where does the 0.5 come from?

OpenStudy (alekos):

sqrt11 = 11^0.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you :)

OpenStudy (alekos):

I'll let you take it from here, just substitute values and calculate log_2(11)
