If the area of the smaller rectangle is 8 m2, what is the area of the larger rectangle? Answer Choices: 1. 24m2 2. 192m2 3. 72m2 4. 108m2 Is the correct answer, choice #3?

If the area of a square is 8, each side is sqrt(8). A scale factor of 3 would require you to multiply that side length by 3, which would be 3sqrt(8) or sqrt(8*9)=sqrt(72). The area of a square with that side length would be 72.
