Could someone walk me through factoring this?
6x^2 - 13x = 5 what I did first was subtract 5 so now it's 6x^2 - 13x - 5 = 0
I think it's going to look like this (x - )(x + ) but I don't know what the factors are going to be. I want to figure out how to do this and come to an answer rather be given one
rather than*
the 6 in front of x^2 makes it harder it will look either like (6x )(x ) or (2x )(3x ) because the two x terms have to multiply to give you 6^2
Hmm okay, is it possible to split the term here?
the middle term I mean
one way I do it, is multiply the 6 times the last number 5 (ignoring the sign) to get 30 look at the factors of 30 1,30 2,15 3,10 5,6 we want the pair that have a difference of -13 that means 2,15 is the pair, and to get the correct sign 2, and -15
