how do i solve x and y? -5x+11y=13 x=2y+10 please help me :(

Ok, for that problem it tells you what x equals so all you need to do is plug that into the first equations: -5(2y + 10) + 11y = 13. You would then distribute -5(2y), -5(10) equals, -10y + -50 + 11y = 13. Combine like terms. 1y + -50= 13. Add 50 to both sides since its a negative#. 1y= 63. Now finally solve for y = 63. The next part you need to plug in what y equals into the equation; x = 2y + 10
