what is the main difference between the two dimensional and three dimensional models of ethane and methane? when might you choose to use a two dimensional model rather than a three dimensional model when representing one of the molecules?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ethene (ethylene) is a flat (planar) molecule so a 2-dimensional model would be fine. Propane needs a 3-D model since each carbon has a tetrahedral arrangement.

sorry meant methane not propane
