1.3 × 10(exponent 4) ? 8.6 × 10(exponent2) options: < > = Scientific notation I know how to do this, im just drawing a blank QAQ help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

convert scientific notation to standard notation

OpenStudy (shamil98):

If you know how to do this.. you wouldn't be drawing a blank.

OpenStudy (ranga):

1.3 x 10^4 = 13000 8.6 x 10^2 = 860 Without even expanding you can say the first one is bigger because in scientific notation the first number is always between 1 and 10 and therefore whichever number has the bigger positive exponent will always be the bigger number.

Thank you so much :) @ranga

@shamil98 I'm sorry, I have a rather poor memory and all I needed was a refreshment on how to do this. I'm not here for the answers unlike most people, but I needed a little reminder, you know? Is it such a bad thing that I happened to forget and ask for help? That's what this sight if for after all.
