help please I don't know how to graph it in pi
subtraction in domain will cause to slide right side and multiplication will make it expand or contract it
i know y = 2
I would start by subbing in: x=-pi x=0 x=pi x=2pi x=3pi x=4pi then the intervals of them, like x=pi/2 To find the x-intercepts, this is when y=0 the maxima and minima are generally the turning points, ie when the derivative=0
would it be like that? (red points)
or the other way?
well for a start: at x=pi (x axis) y=2cos(pi-(2pi/3)) = 2cos(pi/3) = 1
so it doesn't shift left or right? just the maxima is raised by 2?
y=cos(x) goes to y=2cos(x-(2pi/3)) stretched by a scale of 2, translated by +2pi/3 but the question specifically tells you to plot it, by determining the intercepts and stationary points (ie 2 and -2)
so the ones I attached earlier were both wrong ?
yup
like this then right,cause its2pi/3
Yep by the looks of it (quite hard to accurately tell) it looks correct!
ok cool thank you so much !
not a problem! :-)
