OpenStudy (anonymous):

An enzyme is used to catalyze a metabolic reaction. What would most likely happen if an enzyme inhibitor were added during the reaction?

OpenStudy (blues):

All enzyme inhibitors essentially bind to to the enzyme - sticky itself to it, so to speak - and cause structural changes to the enzyme such that, when bound, the enzyme cannot catalyse the reaction. So though you have to consider what proportion of enzyme is bound to its inhibitor - which in turn depends on the concentration of inhibitor relative to enzyme, and how readily the inhibitor will bind its enzyme - you can make a few general statements about the overall performance of enzymes in your sample...
