Write an equation of a line in slope intercept form that is parallel to the line x + 4y = 6 and passes through (-8, 5).

@ganibl can you explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you need to change the equation into slope-intercept form which is x + 4y = 6 -x -x 4y = -x + 6 4y/4 = -x/4 + 6/4 y = -1/4x + 1.5 then graph that: the y-intercept is 1.5 and the slope is -1/4 rise/run. Also graph the point (-8, 5) Then to find the parrallel line the slope is the same but the y-intercept is different Then from the point (-8, 5) use the slope to draw the parrallel line.
