gods existence , does it matter?
hello
So, what do I have to tell you now? If he matters or what? i thought I told u already 0_0
now we won't lose your arguments
ive rebutted each point
whats the word for rebuttal, whatever it is
i 'blocked' it, to use a martial arts term
You want to know his Signs?
well, my argument was if god wants me to know he exists, he should make it obvious. just as you would do if you want someone to know you exist
Let me tell that.
would you get angry at a girl if you sent her a love letter but did not give her any email or any pic of yourself , and then she forgot about you?
you sent her a 'sign'., flowers
you sent her very deep poetry. she is intrigued. she eventually forgets about you because she stops receiving these deep love letters
you can send her your name, but remember, no pic! no visible evidence you exist

i dont find those stories to be compelling , they sound like legends or stories that were embellished by the followers
Now, the test for "US" (us not United States lol) is to Believe in him upon looking at the Signs he gave back then...
Just wait a second, these are not Just Stories. Muslims are not SOO stupid to follow simple Legends.
disco, its not about being stupid. they didnt know better
disco, when people believed the earth doesnt move , but the sun does. is that stupid?
theres a difference between not knowing better and being stupid. but this word stupid is kind of unclear to me. what do you mean by it
im not saying Muslim people's IQ are low by todays standard. its set by genetics
This next part you wouldn't believe but "Quran" is not any book. It's a book of Gods words and not a Human. After it was brought down on "Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) it has stayed the Same. NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN BROUGHT. Unlike the Bible.
well, it looks like just a bunch of guys making wild claims , i mean as an outsider
that god invested them with special powers , etc
Well it will most probably look like it.
im just saying, from my point of view. i cant comment on someone being born muslim, thats different
if someone is born muslim and follows the ways of his parents and community, then he is just doing what everyone else is doing.
But truth be told, i was born a Muslim. I know my religion from Childhood and many aspects are still left for me (as a 16 year old). So, there are many of Your Questions that only a Scholar could Answer.
wait, that doesnt make sense. you believe in god because there are many questions that only a scholar could answer?
As from what I know about my religion now and looking at other religions. Islam is Perfect and the Truth. (would seem weird for an Outsider to believe in it)
ok, here's a question that a scholar cant answer. god has no explanation for his own existence, so god doesnt know why he exists
I told you, this Life is temporary and our Goal is to Seek the truth. Im not saying that I don't believe in God. Im saying that that I know ONLY the Aspects of Islam.
ok , well i cant comment on that , since i was not born muslim. but lets go back to the original issue. you claim that god wants me , right now, to know he exists and worship him
and im saying that if this is true, god should make a serious effort to make his existence known to me. and since god is omnipotent, it should be clear as day.
As Im a student. I have "Islamiat" as a Subject. And I do know one thing. The Verification of the "Words" of Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
How it is verified and stuff.
the omnipotence part is a necessary link to this argument. if god is not omnipotent, then he simply cannot make himself known to everyone for whatever reason,
what is PBUH?
LEMME GOOGLE THAT WORD.
sure
P.B.U.H means "Peace Be Upon Him"
there seems to be some vicious circularity in your claims about islam, but ill set aside that for now
He Is Omnipotent.
So, you think of the Question as "You believe in God, but don't know how it matters"?
we lost a lot of good tells in the chat room, unfortunately
my question is, if god does exist, why does it matter. why cant we ignore god
i mean , my life is presently unaffected by gods existence , *if* god exists.
Yes!!!!!
It affects your life but you don't know. WHAT it will effect, is your real life.
i mean, if its just an intellectual statement, fine. like, here is how the universe began, god did it. ok. now im going to ignore god, and go back to searching for causal explanations
what am i supposed to do with this information
which im not even sure is true. its a hypothesis
This, this flesh and blood is temporary and what God has sent you for the reason is for you to believe in him. If you don't well then you will be Judged.
by the way, this is more or less called deism. i argued the position of a deist
deism was popular in europe in the 1700s-1800s
OK I think I should refer to you from Holy Quran.
, late 1600s i guess , we can wiki it
What God says about himself... Listen.
ok
It's a big Surah, it may take time....
Ayat-ul-Kursi (2:255): "Allah! There is no god but He, the Living, the self-subsisting, eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on the earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permits? He knows what is before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass any of His knowledge except as He wills. His Throne (Kursi) extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme." This should define the meaning of "Omnipotence". If not then I have Surahs from Holy Quran about Allah himself, Allah and his relation with the Created world and Allah and his relation with his Messengers (Prophets). If you want to read from any of them, tell i can write some of them. But the Source is Quran.
ok got it
it doesnt really address any point i made, though
This Ayat of Surah Baqarah is known as Ayat-ul-Kursi - the verse of the Throne - the Throne being the Symbol of Power and authority. The ayat gives a perfect Knowledge about Allah and deals with His attributes in a comprehensive manner. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) declared it to be a great verse of the Holy Quran.
Yes, it is only the Surah. Not the Explanation...
I think your Point mostly surrounds why he matters and his relation with the Created world. I can write a Surah of that...
oh i thought you were going to address my claim. it seems odd that if god wanted me to know he exists now he does not make it patently obvious using his omnipotent powers. unless you argue that god enjoys humans hunting for god , searching for him. which is fine, but you have to accept then that *some* people will do other things. Like in the example with the girl getting anonymous love letters, some girls will be intrigued while others will just ignore it after a while.
you can spend some time searching for god, getting no clues, and then drop it. in other words. so in the case of the girl, she does a google search , gets nowhere, and then forgets about it .
" Nor shall they compass any of His knowledge except as He wills. } implies if god wanted you to know he exists you would
unkle, nice quote, is that Psalms?
Surah Zilzaal (99) "1. When the earth is shaken to her utmost convulsion, 2. And the earth throws up her burdens, 3. And man cries out: 'What is the matter with her?' ,4. On that day will she declare her tidings: 5. For that your Lord will have given her Inspiration. 6. On that day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown their deeds. 7. Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good see it! 8. And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it." This tells why God matters.
i think it seems logical to say god does not want me to know he exists. it does not make sense to say that it would take away my free will if i knew god exists. there is no free will in the first place if youre not sure that god exists. free will would imply that you have the choice to believe and not believe that god exists. but existence is one of those things that you either feel compelled to believe or you don't. in other words, you dont have a choice. if you show up on my front door, i dont really have a choice to doubt your existence.
the issue of free will i think would be that you did meet god, then you decide for whatever reason that you dislike god. just as in the scenario of the girl and the anonymous lover, she finally does meet him and decides he isn't as interesting as she thought
Let me find the Surah for God's relation with his Messengers as that's how he showed his existence. And if still Man doesn't believe in God, God has said he will be judged on atoms weight of Deed.
it doesnt make sense for an anonymous lover to avoid meeting the girl that *he* likes because he doesn't want to take away her free will to like him.
in fact, the only one who has free will in this game is god, since he chooses not to reveal himself in an obvious unambiguous way
the ball is in gods court, assuming god exists. its his move
Why would God show his Existence again? As he did it already and at the Last messenger he said that he has given the book, the knowledge, the faith, and now it's up to Humans to live their life believing or not believing in God, well if you don't believe then you will still be Judged. God doesn't need to show his Existence again, as It will ruin the point of everything and why we live our daily lives. Im not expecting for you to straight away change your Faith here, if you did then It would be really stupid, yes i know it will be stupid. But the REAL Answer is out there. In your Life, that's the point of Life, not everything in this Argument. You have free will over trying to find God, or simply ignoring him, ignore him and be judged. Find and try to seek him, I GUARANTEE you 101% that you will find God (Allah) if you try hard enough.
if you argue that god cant reveal himself because then it would force us to love and adore him, then i would say then thats god problem, not mine. he created us in such a way that we suddenly lose free will to worship god upon knowing certainly that god exists.
