Which is a solution of the inequality? p + 4 – 2(p – 10) > 0

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Distribute the -2 to (p-10) first.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

Then combine the like terms and get p on one side, and get p by itself through division if necessary.

OpenStudy (shamil98):

When you multiply or divide by a negative number in inequalities you flip the sign. So, keep that in mind.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22?

OpenStudy (shamil98):

nope. and remember this is an inequality you don't just say p is n (n just represents any number) you say p > n or p < n . Try solving it and show your work, that way I can see where you went wrong in the process of solving it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p > 26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamil98

OpenStudy (shamil98):

P + 4 - 2(p-10) > 0 distribute the negative 2 p + 4 -2p + 20 > 0 combine the like terms what do you get?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

if you're correct you should get -p + 24 > 0

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

and then many people will perform the Careless Mistake by changing -p+24>0 to p-24>0 which is not correct
