The probability that a student takes an English class and a math class is 0.084. The probability that a student takes an English class is 0.49. What is the probability that a student takes a math class given that the student is taking an English class? 0.084 0.406 0.49 0.171 I am confused because of the last sentence. I think the answer is .171

OpenStudy (phi):

you need to use the formula for conditional probability http://www.mathgoodies.com/lessons/vol6/conditional.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool, I did that. .84/.49=.171

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (phi):
